Hill Country Modern
New Construction
This rural SW Austin Contemporary home sits on a gently sloped lot with sweeping Hill Country views. The project is a case study in very careful design and finish selections to achieve both program and budget objectives. Where some areas splurge, others restrain. During design development, superfluous interior square footage gives way to ensuring the outdoor living includes a pool. A stunning steel framed butterfly roof canopy shades the back patio. A detached garage and shop are connected to the house via a covered breezeway with an outdoor shower. Windows are thoughtfully placed and sized in every room for a specific purpose—to capture light, to frame a view, or to create a detail. The exterior veneer is a blend of saw cut limestone, integral stucco, clear cedar accent siding, and a custom architect-designed board and batten pattern. Standing seam metal clads the roof.
The interiors boast some areas of specialty finish including plaster and stone, while other rooms feature unique coves or light wells. Several high-performance construction features are present in the project from our standard unvented attic assembly to high efficiency mechanical and water distribution systems and LED lighting.
