This modern central Austin residence is an efficient design of linear volumes organized around a private backyard.   A key feature in the project is the architectural concrete.  The concrete walls provide a key design element that flow outside to inside through the main level common spaces, and includes a concrete fireplace, chimney and floating hearth.  Blackened hot rolled steel is also a prominent finish with paneling that wraps the staircase, its guardrails and flows into the dining room.  A custom steel vent hood surround is featured in the kitchen.  Clear vertical Doug Fir 1×4 interior and exterior siding brings a warm balance to the concrete and steel.
